2011 opportunities for Wilderness Candidates to complete their Vigil in the Voyager Territory!

Wilderness Candidates:

We currently have three upcoming opportunities for you to attend a Wilderness Vigil. The first one will be held during the Illinois Spring Trace in Fisher, IL. The vigil will begin on Saturday April 30th. The second one will be held during the OH Spring Trace in Marengo, OH. The vigil will begin on Saturday May 14th. The third opportunity to attend a vigil will be held during the Territorial Rendezvous and will begin on Tuesday July 12th (but we might be able to change this date, if it works better for the candidates that are interested). You should try to come in the day before which will give you time to rest and prepare. The vigil starts promptly at 1:00pm local time. There’s also the talk of a fourth vigil in KY later this fall but we haven’t worked out the details for that one yet.

If are able and plan on attending any of the three events, please contact me to confirm. I will need to make the appropriate arrangements so that you may attend. I have yet to check with the Chapter presidents to find out whether you will need to register for the event. It would be my assumption that you need to in order to help cover the campground fees.

If you haven’t yet carried your pouch for the minimum three month requirement you are still welcome to attend the vigil. Once the vigil is completed you will need to continue wearing your pouch until the three months are over at which time you will be able to wear your Wilderness FCF pin on your uniform.

Please come to the vigil well rested and “prayed up” to ensure a successful experience. To help have a safe trip home after the vigil, please have at least one person with you that will be “fresh” for the drive home. You can expect to be released on Sunday around 10:00am. If your driver for the trip home is not a Wilderness member, he may camp in a special area on the property, or make his own arrangements, but he will not be allowed to be in contact with you or any of the proceedings until you are dismissed.

One last word… this event will test your skills and frontier knowledge, but the real opportunity for you is in the spiritual experience of the vigil. All who have gone before you have met with God during the vigil. Please take the time to prayerfully prepare yourself. There will be very few times in your life to have an opportunity to spend this kind of time with your God. Don’t miss God because you weren’t prepared.
